Lithuania is estimated to have the highest level of alcohol consumption in the world, with 18.2 liters of pure alcohol per person, equivalent to 910 large glasses of beer.

Heaviest drinking countries in the world in 2016
Lithuania has the three elements that tend to result in heavy drinking: low prices, easy access, and heavy marketing.
Beer in Lithuania costs an average of $2, compared to $4 in the US and $4.5 in the UK.
And only recently the government started to tackle the problem. It raised taxes on alcoholic drinks and banned their sale in petrol stations.
Though Europeans are the heaviest drinkers in the world, consumption is falling. Drinking decreased in 19 of the 31 countries in the region.
