Mt. Gox’s customers may receive more money than they lost when the crypto exchange went bankrupt

Customers affected by Mt. Gox’s bankruptcy can receive their compensation in bitcoin instead of its cash equivalent, a court in Japan ruled on Friday (June 22).

That means that former clients of the troubled cryptocurrency exchange will be able to profit from bitcoin’s recent price surge.
If they had received their bitcoins back in 2014, when the exchange went bankrupt after losing some 850,000 bitcoins, each coin would be worth about $485. Now, each is worth $6,150.
