New data shows Tesla’s Model S is pulling ahead in Europe, with sales up 30% last year—outstripping both the Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series for the first time on their home turf.

According to research company Jato, Model S sales hit 16,132, beating the Mercedes S Class, which grew 3% to 13,359. Deliveries for BMW’s flagship 7 Series sank 13% to 11,735.

“This is an alarm for the traditional automakers such as Mercedes. It says a smaller but smarter brand such as Tesla can beat them at home,” said Jato analyst Felipe Munoz.
