Bitcoin split into two currencies, one called bitcoin and the other called bitcoin cash. There is more than one difference between them but the main one is their block size.

Transactions made with bitcoin and bitcoin cash are registered in blocks. They are like pages in a ledger. The bigger the block, the more transactions it can register.

Bitcoin is capable of registering almost 2,500 transactions in one block. Meanwhile, the first block of bitcoin cash already registered almost 7,000 transactions.

And that first block had only about 2 megabytes. Bitcoin cash blocks can hit a maximum of 8 megabytes. So the number of transaction will grow even more.

That makes bitcoin cash faster than bitcoin and more capable of scaling and becoming a truly global currency, according to those backing the new currency.
