Made by Danish firm MHI Vestas, the wind turbine measures almost 190 meters (620 feet), equal to a 55-story building. Each blade weighs 35 tonnes.

This turbine was just now made available for sale, but a previous version, that produces 8 megawatts, can be found in Denmark, Belgium, and the UK.

Large turbines like that are usually installed offshore, because of the disruptions they cause when placed on land.

Thanks in part to cheaper and more powerful turbines, global wind energy production grew from 23,900 megawatts in 2001 to 486,800 megawatts in 2016.
